my honda failed emisions w/ very high carbon monoxide levels and above normal hc and nox do i need a cat conv?



i have aftermarket exhaust from the headers down, w/ no catalytic converter, my numbers were carbon monoxide 34.55 and standards are 12.00. NOX were 3.11 where 2.0 is standard, and Hydro Carbons were 1.20 and standards are .80

    If that car originally had one..you most likely need to put one on as they would be required for an inspection. Any inspection station that passes you without a converter that's suppose to be there…would be in big trouble if it's known that they passed you. It would also most likely cause you problems as well…those converters ARE there for a reason.

    might want to put a catalytic converter in there (use a high flow if you're looking to maintain some Horses) and replace your oxygen sensors too while you're in there just to be safe.

    I dont know what state you're in but not having a cat on a honda (or any other car that came with one OEM) is on the illegal side.

    The catalytic converter is designed for one reason. To take care of the problem that you have created by taking it off.Put it back.
