The fact that the level is not ZERO means there is a real problem. You need to have this stove investigated. The toxic effects are concentration and exposure. Hemoglobin binds 250 times greater to co then o2, and the co does not leave the rbc so it takes it out of commission. Too many and it is lethal. Call the gas company before it is too late. The alarm will only sound when levels are high enough for acute death.
