Is carbon monoxide level of 268 PPM in 1 bedroom really bad?

I’m living in a one bedroom apartment, with a gas stove, and I recently bought a carbon monoxide detector to see if there was a problem with the current levels. The detector shows a level of 260-268 most days. Is this a problem? If so, how sever is this problem (I ask, because the detector doesn’t go off, but I have a feeling that the level is high.)

The fact that the level is not ZERO means there is a real problem. You need to have this stove investigated. The toxic effects are concentration and exposure. Hemoglobin binds 250 times greater to co then o2, and the co does not leave the rbc so it takes it out of commission. Too many and it is lethal. Call the gas company before it is too late. The alarm will only sound when levels are high enough for acute death.
