How do carbon monoxide detectors detect carbon monoxide in the air?
Like are there chemicals in them that cause it to react with carbon monoxide thus causing it to alarm?
Please let me know!!!

the light from an inffrared LED shines thru the air and onto
a detector [a little piece of computer chip] that measures the color of the light. by the color of the light, and the way that the air has changed it, the detector can tell that there is carbon momoxide in the air
carbon monoxide detectors detect traces of carbon monoxide in the air. they do this buy matching the chemical properties of substances in the air with the data they know. they check how corrosive a substance is, then they check whether it is an acid or base then they check for oxygen (by heating it) then they check for traces of carbon (i don’t know how they do that). kind of simple, really.
